Ekco, one of Europe’s fastest growing managed service providers, has ranked in 14th place in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Ireland 2023. This marks the third year in a row that the company has featured on the list. Over the past five years, Ekco’s has annual revenue increased by approximately 800% and the company now employs over 860 people, up from a team of 35 in 2018.

Steve MacNicholas, CEO of Ekco Ireland, said, “Our growth last year was accelerated by a couple of key factors – firstly our continued investment and expansion into the cyber security sector and secondly launching our Ekco Cloud workspace collaboration service into Irish businesses with 20 to 250 employees”.

This year Ekco acquired Radius Technologies, a Waterford-based MSP that specialises in end-to-end IT services for the sub 250 employee business segment. Ekco has seen significant growth over the past two years, particularly in its cyber security business, having acquired Ward Solutions, Caveo Systems and Kontex (all dedicated security service providers) in 2021 and 2022, making Ekco the largest cyber security business in Ireland.

Ekco traditionally has been providing complementary IT managed services to its security offerings, including data backup; disaster recovery; private, hybrid and public cloud; and networking.

When asked what he thinks the technology sector will be focusing on next year, MacNicholas notes, “Organisations will continue to invest in transitioning their business models towards the digital economy and start exploring the potential use cases of AI.  Security and governance of their digital assets should also remain a top agenda item. At an industry level I would expect that we will see more consolidation in 2024, continuing the trends of the past few years.”
