Arial view of London

Sailing the Thames, sampling fine wine and more… it’s all in a week’s work for Cloudhelix Chairman Ivan Whittall.

Here’s an insight into what he’s been up to recently.

As Cloudhelix’s Chairman, I’m always looking to meet new people from businesses who can provide guidance, offer us insight or act as a sounding board for our plans and ideas, making networking an important aspect to my role within the business.

Luckily, it’s not all boardrooms and phone calls, sometimes it takes me to new and fascinating places across London. The City Executive Club is a members association I’m fortunate to be a part of, offering the opportunity to talk and meet with likeminded professionals in some interesting and often luxurious London locations a number of times a year.

The latest event was no different, kicking off with a Thames Clipper toward Greenwich as the early autumn sun set in the sky. Despite the fact I’ve spent so much of my life in the great city of London, it’s always refreshing and humbling to see the city from water, growing, changing and never standing still.

The evening was one of juxtaposition, with wine tasting taking place at Greenwich Peninsula Driving Range… safe to say, the quaffing took place after the golf. Our sommelier for the evening was Arnaud Compas, who lead us through an excellent selection of vintages, providing the right level of interaction to allow the club to get to know one another. As reserved Brits, it’s safe to say that a couple of wines certainly does the trick to get your networking juices flowing.

My thanks for a brilliant evening go to Steven Jones & Peter Slack of the City Executive Club, along with all of the interesting professionals who joined me for a fantastic event. Here’s to many more interesting networking opportunities in our great city.
