At Ekco, equality, diversity, and inclusion are at the heart of our unique culture. We are committed to promoting awareness and understanding of these principles, ensuring that our work environment is welcoming to all. This policy outlines what equality, diversity, and inclusion mean to us, the role they play at Ekco, and how each of us can contribute to maintaining an inclusive workplace. We want everyone to feel they can “Come As You Are” and be their true selves at work.
What is Equality?

Equality means ensuring that every individual has an equal opportunity to make the most of their lives and talents. It involves treating everyone fairly and without discrimination, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstances. At Ekco, we strive to create a level playing field where everyone has the same access to opportunities and resources.

What is Diversity?

Diversity encompasses the range of our different backgrounds, identities, and experiences. It includes, but is not limited to, ethnicity, class, gender, faith, physical ability, mental ability, and orientation. Our experiences are defined by the interaction of these diverse aspects, leading to creative and innovative problem-solving that sets Ekco apart.

What is Inclusion?

Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable bringing their full, true selves to work without fear of discrimination. We want everyone at Ekco to feel valued and respected, and to be able to contribute to our success. As Verna Myers said, “Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” At Ekco, we take it a step further and (*with a little help from Kurt Cobain & Nirvana) say, “Come as you are, as you were, as we want you to be, as a friend.”

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion at Ekco

At Ekco, we believe that our strength lies in our differences. We celebrate the unique backgrounds of our team members and how they contribute to our culture. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are essential to our growth and success, and we all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive workplace.

Creating a Culture of Belonging

We are dedicated to creating a culture of belonging where every individual can grow both professionally and personally. We want to set up the right conditions for that culture of belonging to flourish, as each individual gets the chance to flourish too. This means fostering an environment where everyone feels they belong, are valued, and can thrive.

Our Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We are committed to:

  • Raising awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusion and promoting their importance in the workplace.
  • Providing training for all staff on the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Enhancing our strategic focus on equality, diversity, and inclusion as we grow.
  • Building an equality-led workplace free from bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination.
  • Taking seriously any complaints of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, and addressing them promptly.
  • Reflecting our belief in diversity in our recruitment practices.
  • Reviewing employment practices and procedures to ensure fairness and compliance with the law.

Annual Training on Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

We are committed to training our staff annually on the importance of equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. This training includes internal training sessions, e-learning videos, and external speaker sessions. By providing these resources, we aim to ensure that all employees understand the significance of equality, diversity, and inclusion and how they can contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

Support and Reporting

We have zero tolerance for any type of discrimination or harassment at Ekco. If you experience behaviour that is misaligned with this policy, please speak with your Manager or any member of the Ekco People Team in confidence. Our equality, diversity, and inclusion policy is fully supported by Ekco senior management.

Quarterly Feedback and Ekco Voice

We want to hear how we are doing each quarter. To capture your feedback on our people experience and culture, we have introduced our Ekco Voice employee surveying tool (Peakon). This anonymous surveying tool allows staff to provide feedback each quarter. Your input is invaluable in helping us improve and create an unbeatable culture and people experience. Additionally, our Whistleblowing system (SpeakUp) is available 24/7 to anonymously report workplace misconduct concerns.

Bottom Line

We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. Thank you for being a part of Ekco and for contributing to our unique culture. Remember, at Ekco, you can always “come as you are.” We are dedicated to creating a culture of belonging where you can grow both professionally and personally.
