The Confidence Gap

Most organisations believe they could operate through a major technology incident. Far fewer can show the evidence behind that belief.

We asked organisations across financial services, legal and professional services, and the not-for-profit sector how ready they really are for technology disruption and AI. The early findings point to a pattern: confidence runs high, but the proof behind it is inconsistent. Organisations trust they could keep running through a major incident, yet most have not tested that assumption, or cannot evidence it if someone asks.

High-trust sectors are not resisting AI or change. They are trying to move faster than their operational foundations allow.

* Results are interim based on 370 responses. The full report, with 400+ responses, follows in late November.

What the early research covers:

  • The confidence-to-proof gap, measured across resilience, recovery and AI readiness
  • How the pressure changes by sector
  • Where AI ambition is running ahead of governance, and what that exposes
  • What provable readiness looks like, rather than assumed readiness
